Powder (Ombre) Brows in Coon Rapids
Great Nails offers powder brows, also called ombre brows, in Coon Rapids, done by Lora, a licensed permanent makeup artist. Powder brows give soft, powdery shading with a makeup-like finish. They are $250, the lowest price of our three brow styles, and the first touch-up is $50 when you book it in the right window. We take appointments seven days a week at 3450 124th Ave NW, Suite 102.
What are powder (ombre) brows?
Powder brows, also called ombre brows, are soft, powdery shading that looks like brow makeup. The color is lighter at the front and deeper toward the tail.
Powder brows are the same service some studios call ombre brows. If you are not sure which style fits you, we will talk it through at your consultation.

Are powder brows good for oily skin?
Yes. Powder brows work on all skin types, including oily skin.
Nano hairstroke brows suit normal to dry skin. If you have oily skin and want a soft brow, powder is a good fit. We will look at your skin and brows together at your consultation.
How much do powder brows cost?
Powder (ombre) brows are $250, and the first touch-up is $50.
The $50 touch-up applies when you come back at least 4 weeks and no more than 8 weeks after your first visit. Outside that window, the price depends on how your brows look.
There is no deposit and no cancellation fee. If your plans change, please call us at (763) 433-8613 so we can offer your time to someone else.
What happens at my powder brow appointment?
You start with a consultation about shape, skin type and color, then we apply numbing cream for about 15 to 20 minutes. Nothing begins until you approve the shape we have drawn.
- Consultation: we look at your brow shape, hair growth pattern and skin type, and agree on a shape and color tone.
- Numbing: we cleanse the brow area and apply numbing cream for about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Mapping: we outline the brow shape, and you approve it before we start.
- Pigment: we build soft powder shading.
- Soothing balm: we clean the area and apply a balm.
- Aftercare: we go through the instructions out loud and schedule your touch-up.
Plan on about 2 hours for powder brows. Lora uses sterile, single-use needles for every client. Before we start, you also fill out a short health and consent form.
What does powder brow healing look like?
Brows look darker and more defined for the first few days, then flake lightly around day 3 to 5. Between about day 8 and day 28 the color can look faded, patchy or uneven, which is a normal stage and not the final result.
- Keep the brow area dry for the first 24 to 48 hours, with no water or makeup on it. After that, cleanse gently twice a day with plain water or a mild, fragrance-free cleanser, pat dry, and use a rice-grain amount of the aftercare ointment.
- Do not pick, scratch or rub flaking skin. Let it shed on its own.
- For the first 7 days, skip exercise and heavy sweating, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and swimming, alcohol and smoking, direct sun, and exfoliants, retinol or peels near the brows.
As soon as you finish your health and consent form, we email you the written aftercare instructions, and we go through them out loud before you leave.
How long do powder brows last?
Permanent brows last about 2 to 3 years, and sometimes longer depending on your skin type. They fade gradually, and a touch-up refreshes them.
Your first touch-up is $50 when you come back at least 4 weeks and no more than 8 weeks after your first visit. The first session is not the final result, so we judge the final look after that touch-up.
What are the downsides of powder brows?
The main trade-offs are the healing stage and the upkeep. Your brows look darker at first, flake and look patchy for a few weeks, and fade over time, so you need a touch-up.
Future skin treatments near the brows, such as laser hair removal, chemical peels or plastic surgery, can change how permanent makeup looks, and some of those changes cannot be corrected. We cover this and your health history on the form you fill out before your visit.
How are powder brows different from nano and hybrid brows?
Powder brows are soft shading, nano brows are fine hair-like strokes, and hybrid brows combine both.
Nano hairstroke brows are $350 and give the most natural look, because each stroke imitates a real brow hair. Hybrid (combo) brows are $350 and add powder shading to nano hairstrokes for a fuller brow. See all three side by side on the permanent brows page.
